Sed pars fuit urbis Spartae, Salmasio, unde Alcmana fuisse, tradit Suidas, Α᾿λκμὰν Λάκων ἐκ Μεσσόας. κατὰ δὲ τὸν Κράτητα τῷ ὄντι Λυδὸς ἐκ Σαρδέων, Alcuman Laco ex Messoa, iuxta Cratetem vero revera Lydus ex Sardibus. Nempe revera ille Lydus et oriundo Sardianus, Spartanus μέτοικος, ut ex Alexandro constat. Vide praefatum Salmas. ad Solin. p. 825.
