Sed pars fuit urbis Spartae, Salmasio, unde Alcmana fuisse, tradit Suidas, Α᾿λκμὰν Λάκων ἐκ Μεσσόας. κατὰ δὲ τὸν Κράτητα τῷ ὄντι Λυδὸς ἐκ Σαρδέων, Alcuman Laco ex Messoa, iuxta Cratetem vero revera Lydus ex Sardibus.
